Open Source Software at Samsung Electronics:
Changes from a closed-model to a collaborative and open-model of software develompent

In this panel discussion, Mr. Minsuk Choi will be presenting very meaningful changes in the software development practices at Samsung Electronics by adopting open source software approaches. Samsung used to be known as a fast-follower, not as an industry leader. However, thanks to the proliferation of open source software movement, Samsung is actively leading some specific technologies such as flash memory device driver and mobile software platform by making the best use of open source software. Samsung is not just taking the fruits of open source communities, but rewarding the communities by sharing a significant amount of in-house developed source codes.
